He also cited the littled girl in the run down school that had to stop having class six times a day due to the trains passing , and how the walls were peeling and the roof leaked. The little girl mustered up the courage to write the president asking her principal for the money for a stamp. She wrote how she and all her fellow students were the future lawyers, bankers, congressmen, and president of the United States. She wrote a letter to Congress ASKING THE GOVERMENT FOR HELP for her school.
The impression I got was the man who was the retiring bank president did the right thing by sharing the wealth he earned with his employees. The idea of sharing the wealth did not sit right with me (socialism), however as a FREE man and citizen of the United States could do with his money as HE, THE INDIVIDUAL, saw fit. He made that decision, MOT the Federal government.
What I got out of the story of the little girl when broken down to its' simplest, the federal government is the ANSWER to your problem. How is the federal government/congress going to HELP? What if the local government had the funds instead of tax money going to Washington first, (Where in the CONSTITUTION give the Federal government power over education instead of the STATE? Usurping authority again.) then funneled back to the state needing money for education, only to have Federal restrictions on that money in order for the state to receive it. If the Fed wants condoms in school or global warming due to man taught as fact or both, the state is bound to Washingtons' wishes.
HMMMM, the federal government imposing its' will on a state in an area not specified by the Constitution as a pervue of the Federal government, and the state relenquishing its' responsibility to the Federal goverment in exchange to receive funds for education. SOCIALISM AT ITS' FINEST.
