Just curious.

I'll admit, I only read it 3 or 4 times a week.

I almost never read the newspaper and never buy one myself. I get my news online almost exclusively, because I spend so much time on the pc anyway smile.gif

Almost every day.

The last time I bought a newspaper was when I was potty training my dog. It did the job. I am not one of those coupon clippers, and I will never buy the waste of paper again.

The question should be, how many people on this site can read.
Howdy folks. It looks like nothing has changed here.

C'mon Rick, don't hate,...what is your thoughts of all the failing newspapers and magazines out there? People are tired of all the lies. Good to see you here!
Montrovant
I don't think that's the main issue at all Det. I think that the internet has taken a huge chunk of the market away from print media.

I think mont hit the nail squarely on the head...the internet has brought about the demise of newspapers. I read the Florida Times-Union online, and occasionally other papers. You say people are tired of all the lies? I think it's more like they are tired of paying 75 cents for an ad filled mullet wrapper. It got to where we bought the newspaper only for the sales, the tv guide, and for soaking up spills. Det, I don't hate.

It's all good. Thought I'd come back and look around awhile. Nothing going on anywhere these days. I guess everyone has Spring fever.

I read parts of it when I'm on break at work. I seldom read the entire thing, however. I will scan the front section and read articles that catch my eye.
RAGIN CAJUN
I rarely purchase the newspaper, but I will skim through it at work when someone leaves it behind.

Unfortunately, the demise of the newspapers are a sign of the times.

I think it slowly started with TV news and the blurbs on the news, not the full stories. Then society began changing with some people wanting instant gratification. Supposedly all these new electronic gadgets were to make life easier and all it has done is sped up our lives where we don't make time to slow down and do the things we were accustomed of doing ie. reading the paper.

As I've grown older I see life passing people by and they don't realize it. I don't see as much time for families. Everything is in a rush. We make our lives more stressful when it isn't necessary. A good example I remember, when I was a kid Sundays the only store that was open was the drug store. The grocery stores may have been open til 10 or 11 am. The family would attend mass, have Sunday dinner, and take a drive to the coast and spend a day. I don't see this anymore. At times I believe the focus in our lives has changed to the point we can't see the forest for the trees. Too much of our work follows us home and it may not be the job, but personalities. We don't leave work at work. When was the last time you remember families having a meal together? I don't like what this world is becoming. sad.gif
