Unfortunately, the demise of the newspapers are a sign of the times.
I think it slowly started with TV news and the blurbs on the news, not the full stories. Then society began changing with some people wanting instant gratification. Supposedly all these new electronic gadgets were to make life easier and all it has done is sped up our lives where we don't make time to slow down and do the things we were accustomed of doing ie. reading the paper.
As I've grown older I see life passing people by and they don't realize it. I don't see as much time for families. Everything is in a rush. We make our lives more stressful when it isn't necessary. A good example I remember, when I was a kid Sundays the only store that was open was the drug store. The grocery stores may have been open til 10 or 11 am. The family would attend mass, have Sunday dinner, and take a drive to the coast and spend a day. I don't see this anymore. At times I believe the focus in our lives has changed to the point we can't see the forest for the trees. Too much of our work follows us home and it may not be the job, but personalities. We don't leave work at work. When was the last time you remember families having a meal together? I don't like what this world is becoming.
