I was thinking about this today:

What is the best invention in this mellennium?

What is the best invention in this century?

What is the best invention in this decade?

Likewise, do you have a worst invention of all time?

Ill have to get back to ur questions later, b/c i dont have the slightest clue at this point...but this brings me to a quote i find pretty humorous:

100 AD a philosopher by the name Sextus Julius Frontinus said, "Inventions reached their limit long ago, and i see no hope for further development." - LoL WOW could he have been more wrong!

Yeah its just funny to read some things ppl thought back then and it just makes you wonder...how could he think that inventions had reached their limit almost 2000 yrs ago?

Anyways...the single best and most prolific invention of all time imo is the automobile. Now my mind could change b/c im not putting a great deal of thought but the automobile (among trains, planes also) has been one of the greatest things ever. Its unreal how much travel has been expanded and been modified for the better in such a short time.

If we don't die from natural causes, technology will eventually get out of control and lead to the downfall of mankind.

Just my opinion.

I'm not saying it will happen in our lifetime, but eventually technology will become uncontrollable and/or deface the preciousness of humans and replace them artificial beings.

I kind of agree...it is getting pretty ridiculous, but how can you limit ppls ideas and knowledge? Wouldnt that be an infringement upon our rights?

Yeah. I don't know. Eventually humans will be so altered that it won't even mean anything to be human or technology will backfire on us in some way.

I guess you just have to have hope in human morality, which I don't have any hope in.

Maybe we will get lucky and an asteroid will take out the world before then.

I mean if we continue at this rate, soon we will be a paperless society which i dont see how that could be any good whatsoever. We will also have so much advancement in technology that the birth rate will be MUCH higher than the death rate (its already almost twice as high) that this world is going to take on to many ppl than it can handle...its kinda scary if you think about it, good thing i wont be around.

I for one does not like taking anything to kill pain. No I don't like pain, but the less one takes,..the better I feel it is for the immune system. I think we have so many drugs for anything from getting the penis hard, to controlling herpes it is sickening. We are not God.

Its a weird subject. I agree with you Det, i dont go to the doctor and i try not to take any pain meds these days. Alot of it has to do with the fact that when i was playing baseball for the last 4 years i was taking over 20 ibuprofen a day, sometimes 25 a game if i was pitching. And it still never got the job totally done, i had such major rotator cuff/elbow problems that i would literally throw up in between innings from the pain (if i wasnt takin the ibuprofen).

Here is where the subject gets weird though, how can you limit ones knowledge? I dont like the fact all these meds are out here and that we are prolonging life for so long now but wouldnt it be immoral and unethical to not produce meds that could potentially save a life? And you cant just tell someone not to go in that direction, it is ones freedom to do such a thing. So what do we do?? It kinda sux...

how about ritalin?

There must be a reason that boy is acting up so bad. Let's give him a pill.

No, how about giving him a spankin'.

When my sister was a single mother, she used to say that my nephew must be ADHD or whatever it is.

I said send him over to me. I spanked him once long ago. I haven't had to spank him since.

Whenever he is with me, he is the most well behaved young man and we have a great time. He wants to hang out with me all the time.

Good thing she didn't give him pills.

He was just acting like a kid.

Now you just explained how Americans have a low approval of today's Holy War against terrorism! It is taking too long, I should be able to take a pill to make it better,..I want it better now,..give me that pill to end this war right now! This is how many Americans think,...they want the pill/quick fix to end the war. It is an epidemic to think everything can end via pill or within a week. Silly rabbits!

Im so sick of hearing that we shouldnt be able to punish kids anymore! Fear is the greatest motivator, now there is a line and i def dont believe in child abuse, but spanking ur kid and making him cry and realize what he has done was wrong is not child abuse, its called parenting. Ppl should try it sometime!! Thats alot of the reason the country is going soft, no one is raised hard. I was, my dad would beat my ass in a heartbeat and not think twice, and i realize now why he did it and i respect it and thank him for it. Lessons needed to be learned. I was told by my anger management counselor (haha) that i had ADHD, i told him he didnt have a clue what he was talking about and i was right. I dont have ADHD, but during adolescence i would take advantage of the weak. Not on purpose but its in a kids nature to see what they can get away with, and keep pushing the limit until you are punished. If you are never punished you realize that you can do pretty much anything, and thats bad. Ill tell you this, there were not many times that i did the wrong thing twice, one ass whooping and it was a constant reminder not to do it anymore! Parents these days are ridiculous, i see lil kids walking all over there parents screaming and acting like idiots in stores and the parents just sit there and take it. Boy my dad would have tore my ass up if i acted like that...

G-W, for being at such a young age as you are, you are pretty much up on things,..who do you credit for giving you this great outlook in politics you have?

My father...years ago i couldnt understand why he did some things that he did, but over these last few years i have come to understand. Politics, he follows them pretty well and me and him have always had discussions. He is someone who gave me all the info and let me decide for myself, but he did influence me also b/c me and him think almost exactly alike. He really preached the importance of politics especially when i was younger and i used to think it was a waste of time. The guy is unreal to me, he had me at 19 - was in the army for a few years but got out b/c of me - at one point we were literally bankrupt but he refused welfare and all that crap, he worked all the time (as well as my mom) to put food on the table and a roof over our heads - at 24 my mom moved to atlanta so my dad raised a 5 yr old kid from the age 24 until i graduated and moved out at 18...in that time period he started one of the most successful sleep programs in KY and he has gone (single handedly) from going bankrupt living in the ghetto to making 6 figures and living life not rich but wealthy. He started his business on 800 dollars and great credit, in a business magazine bettersleep inc (his business) was in the top 25 businesses with the best credit in the southeast. His motivation just inspires me and i take ALL of his advice to heart. So growing up through the years and listening to him on politics, i just took it to heart. I started realizing that everything he told me was true and i have been interested in it since.

You just made me think of one.

How about the insulators for beer cans and bottles.

Who takes that long to drink a beer that it would get warm?

Thank god for toilet paper.  Could you imagine??  Yikes!! ohmy.gif

What about the easiest inventions ever? Like anyone could have done it...

mine is toothpicks.

How about the most useless invention?

mine is those stupid tiny umbrella things that go in drinks..how retarded.

To along the same lines as the tooth pick, how about dental floss.

It's string!!

The most useless would be potpouri (spelling).

Floss however is not useless.

I would say the invention of the Democratic Party? laugh.gif Just kidding.

But really, those stupid insulators for Starbuck's Coffee cups are somewhat hidious in my opinion. People love then because they look trendy with them on the cup?!

You are right, flossing is not useless.

Oh,..I don't know about that B-Man,..what if the man is in extreme heat? In Hawaii, everyone used them when I lived there,..who wants cold brew? Beer is much more important than coffee!
